Pour up, drank. Barcelona, drank.

I love Barcelona – it’s a crazy beautiful city full of history, gorgeous people, amazing art, and SO MUCH FOOD. However, over all my visits in the past decade, one thing has remained consistent – Barca is where my party goblin reins supreme. With that said, here is a list of my top spots to pour up, drank in Barcelona.

El Borne at Night

El Borne is one of my absolute FAVORITE neighborhoods. Situated right next to the Gothic quarter (my other favorite spot), El Borne is a maze of narrow old stone alleys. You never know what you’re going to stumble upon.

Dr. Stravinsky

Recently voted #90 on the World’s 100 best bars list, Dr. Stravinsky is THE place to start your night. Each drink is carefully hand crafted by an expert mixologist. Be ready to sit and wait – these creations take some time. While your drink is being concocted, take a second to wander around the bar – it looks like the lab of a mad scientist, but in the coolest possible way. Upon arrival, you’ll be given a book of drinks. It can be a bit intimidating and may require google to clarify some of the ingredients. If you’re not sure what will be best for you, the helpful (gorgeous) staff will be more than happy to discuss your preferred flavor profiles and recommend something perfect. I had the Alma – pisco re-distilled with coca tea and macerated in a mix of elder flower, lycee shrub, purple corn syrup, lime, and egg white.

Dr. Stravinsky is decidedly chill and genuinely elevates the cocktail experience in an open and non pretentious kind of way.

Numero Nueve

After a few drinks at Dr. Stravinsky, wander a few blocks over to Numero Nueve to really get the party started. This tiny bar is mixing up some of the tastiest tropical drinks around. If you’re lucky enough to be there on a day that they’re making daiquiris, GET ONE. They blend them fresh with berries and herbs – to DIE FOR. This spot is great for watching beautiful people, making random drunken friends, and generally having a great time.

Dux Gin & Cocktail

I didn’t get a chance to stop by Dux, but when we walked by I dropped a pin with hopes of returning. This spot totally falls into the “super craft cocktail” category that is popping up all over Borne. If you checkout their Instagram, you can see their entire menu and how the drinks are made – super cool. If you’re in BCN, don’t be like me and actually go to Dux.

Barcelona is a city full of great bars and this is just a snapshot of one small neighborhood. Get out and explore, maybe hit up Razzmatazz at 2AM (when it starts getting busy), have some sangria at any bar in any plaza, or even get a little fancy and hit up Boca Chica. When it comes to Barcelona, you never know when you’re going to stumble upon a gem – so keep your eyes open and be ready for a few dranks.
