Hi! My name is Adelle Rodriguez and I just quit my job and sold all my stuff to go on a journey. A journey also known as a “walkabout.” For those of you who don’t know here’s the DL:

Walk·a·bout (ˈwôkəˌbout/) noun:
Australian. Given to us by Crocodile Dundee – via Urban Dictionary:
A spontaneous journey through the wilderness of one’s choosing in an effort to satisfy one’s itchy feet, a need to be elsewhere, the craving for the open road, that space over the horizon…yes… something like that… you can’t quite touch it so you have to go find it because it’s you just know it’s there…Or maybe it just feels good to go walking around … 😉 Yeah. It’s WALKABOUT.
Now that we’ve got definitions covered, a little about me. I’m 32 and the only adult things in my life are a house in Austin, Texas and a dog named Baby Dog.
I’ve been working one of the top 10 Most Stressful Jobs (Event Management) for the past decade and I’m beyond crispy fried.
In that time I’ve put my body and soul through the wringer – with awesome yet completely draining jobs and insane telenovela style relationships. All resulting in stress induced health issues and an overall feeling of existential dread.
To set the record straight, everything doesn’t and didn’t suck – I have the best friends a girl could ask for and worked at some of the coolest companies (#car2go). Also, lets be real, Baby Dog is the best.
But why a walkabout? Honestly, YOLO. We only have one life and since I’ve been stuck in the grind of most of my adulthood, I decided it was time to step back and reinvent myself. Also, any reason to travel alone for 5 months is a good reason to me.
And that’s it.
This blog will chronicle my journey through self actualization…and all the food, wine, beaches, and temples along the way.
Wish me luck!
xo,
Adelle
